Pakistan has valuable indigenous cattle genetic resources, including Sahiwal, Red Sindhi, Cholistani and Dhanni. International breeds such as Holstein Friesian and Jersey are also used in dairy systems. The right choice depends on production goals, climate, feed availability and management.

Hot weather changes feed intake, comfort and production. Indigenous zebu breeds generally have strong adaptation, while specialized dairy breeds need deliberate heat-stress management.
Choose animals that your farm can consistently feed. High production potential only becomes useful when nutrition, water and management can support it.
Milk, breeding, meat or draught work require different selection priorities. Define the purpose before selecting the animal.
